Friends, today is a very special post on the blog, and I want to start off by thanking you for being here. I mostly share about books, but once in a while, something cool happens and it brings me joy to share my other excitements with you. 😀 Last year on my birthday, I decided to get back into art. I loved it as a child and my grandma, who passed away last year, was an amazing painter and artist herself. To feel more connected with her, I took up art again, sharing my little pieces on Instagram. Author Dan Fitzgerald, who you met when we chatted about special needs kids, really liked some of my pieces. He commissioned me to make one for his book and today is the cover reveal for the very same book, The Living Waters! My art is featured in the interior of the book and in this post, in collaboration with Storytellers on Tour, I bring you Dan’s book cover and more!
The Living Waters
by Dan Fitzgerald
Series: The Weirdwater Confluence (#1)
Publication Date: October 15, 2021 by Shadow Spark Publishing
Genre: Sword-free Fantasy
When two painted-faced nobles take a guided raft trip on a muddy river, they expect to rough it for a few weeks before returning to their life of sheltered ease. But when mysterious swirls start appearing in the water, even their seasoned guides get rattled.
The mystery of the swirls lures them on to seek the mythical wetlands known as the Living Waters. They discover a world beyond their imagining, but stranger still are the worlds they find inside their own minds as they are drawn deep into the troubles of this hidden place.
The Living Waters is a sword-free fantasy novel featuring an ethereal love story, meditation magic, and an ancient book with cryptic marginalia.
My Thoughts on The Living Waters
Since we connected, I have discovered beautifully photos in nature thanks to the the nature photography Dan shares on his Instagram. Photography has played an important role in The Living Waters and along with the book blurb, my own art pieces that resonated with Dan, the mood board was an integral part of my creative process to come up with the art piece.
I really enjoyed being the artist and putting to paper the visuals that the book blurb created in my mind. Here is the art for the interior of the book, alongside how it was integrated into the naked hardcover edition.
The tour package also had art with the characters, Gilea and Temi. This is surely make it easier to picture them as I read the book which I’m excited to in the near future, so stay tuned for that!

Thanks for hanging out until the very end of this post! I love seeing more art associated with books and it has been fun to host two cover reveals where there is so much visual content for the books (Trudie Skies’ The Thirteenth Hour is the other one).
A big thanks to Dan for giving me this opportunity. It is an honor to be part of a book’s journey and have a piece of me in there. My grandma would be so proud. If you like art, or journaling (or both!), find my art account on Instagram.
