Hello friends! Welcome to the second part of my two-part post about books with LGBTQIA+ representation which I adore. There were so many books in the Speculative fiction realm – magical realism, technologically advanced near future, science fiction and fantasy – and today I am excited to highlight stories from contemporary fiction, historical fiction and non-fiction genres. You will also find some books that are on my upcoming TBR with queer representation. Let’s get started.

Why I want to read this – I haven’t read any stories about transitioning so far and I am excited to read the nuanced perspective this one offers. Many of my Instagram friends have adored this one.
Holding Up the Sky by Rebecca Alasdair

Why I want to read this – The book features rescue puppies, gay romance, music, brotherly bonds and other great things.
Until September by Harker Jones

Why I want to read this – Another story that appeals to me! Harker chose a beautiful cover for this book and I am sure it has much to offer.
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

The Mercies is a gripping historical novel set in 17th century Norway. After a devastating storm claims the lives of all the men in a coastal village, two women, Maren and Ursa, struggle to survive amidst accusations of witchcraft. When a menacing outsider, Absalom Cornet, arrives with his wife, Ursa, tensions escalate as he sees the independent women of Vardø as a threat. Why I want to read this – Historical fiction is reason enough. Set in Norway – I don’t know much about it. I find the premise promising and Erynn also wants to read this one.
Of course, these books represent only a fraction of the diverse and empowering literature that celebrates love, resilience, and the importance of representation. 🌈📚
