Friends, today is another special post on the blog. As part of the cover reveal for author Dan Fitzgerald’s second book in the The Weirdwater Confluence Duology, I am excited to share the art that I contributed to the book. 🙂 My art is featured in the interior of the book and in this post, in collaboration with Storytellers on Tour, I bring you Dan’s book cover and more! Check out my art journey for book 1, The Living Waters, here and read on about the new book, The Isle of a Thousand Worlds.

An aging alchemist seeks the key to the Universal Tincture said to unlock the Thousand Worlds of the mind, but she never expected to solve the riddle of her hermetic heart.
A meditation acolyte travels the mystical social media known as the Caravan and finds that the Thousand Worlds lie just below the surface, if she can only learn to see the space between the stars.
This steamy romantic fantasy explores the confluence of the physical and the metaphysical through the commingling of bodies and minds.
Art for The Isle of a Thousand Worlds
This was such a fun one to make! Dan had given me some ideas including the art pieces of mine that he has liked and the book blurb and I started working on this one when I was ready. One of my biggest lessons from Big Magic (which I was reading around that time) was to capture inspiration when it strikes so one morning when I woke up with the idea to start working on this, I pulled out my iPad and off I went.
I drew the hands first, with the star dust around them. Since this is a romance, I imagine these hands to be from different people though they don’t have to be.
The middle piece is inspired by one of the alchemic symbols that Elena had created. I wanted something circular but I also wanted to represent time and infinity. That inspiration came from a tarot card of Death that had been on my mind to make many months ago but I never had. So I incorporated the hour glass from the tarot card and then played around with the placement and surroundings to represent different worlds. I hope that the middle section of the art shows continuity and passage in its unique way.
The final touches are the two characters on the wrists of the two hands. These are also alchemic characters that I found in the symbols sheet that Dan had shared with me and he agreed that keeping them make the art complete!
It is very interesting to make art for a book without reading it. Having read The Living Waters now, I see my art for that book in a different light and will talk more about that in an upcoming post.
