Little Free Library

2 min read

One of the first thoughts I had when we started looking for a house was the ability to set up a Little Free Library. We moved into our place in April 2021 and finally, thanks to the craftsmanship and drive of my amazing father-in-law, Armed with A Book Little Free Library has been established and is stocked with the first round of books!

What is a Little Free Library?

A Little Free Library is a free book-sharing box where anyone may take a book or share a book. They function on the honor system. You do not need to share a book in order to take one. If you take a book or two from a little library, try to bring some to share to that same library, or another in your area, when you can.

FAQs – Little Free Library

Come visit at the corner of Foxboro Landing and Foxboro Terrace, Sherwood Park, Alberta!

I plan to swap out the books every 2nd Friday of the month. I left my blog cards that have my social media links should anyone want a follow up book in a series. 🙂

For this first round, I added:

  • Speculative Fiction (Blind Spots, Girl in Ice)
  • Fantasy (Daughter of Calamity, Of Light and Nightmares)
  • alternate history (The Good German)
  • Science Fiction (Overlap, Salvaged)
  • Romance (Watchful Thinking, All the right notes, A surplus of light)
  • Contemporary Fiction (When it all syncs up, What the dog knows, Lucky)
  • Poetry (Trailing the Azimuth)

Many of these you have seen reviewed on the blog such as Overlap. Others have also had interviews with the author, Dennis Bock (The Good German).

There are a variety of books here – annotated, highlighted, underlined, signed copies, advanced copies, brand new… Some were buddy reads with Ariel, one I won in an online giveaway, one I read as part of a larger Canadian Book Club. A book has so many memories associated with it and I hope that with making it available here, other people can make some memories too.

In my house, I have over 500 books. I have read many of them while others are waiting their turn. I get new books every month from publishers and then there are the ones I buy. Armed with A Book Little Free Library is

  • a way to share the books I have.
  • interact with my local community should anyone want to connect.
  • learn to share books I adored in one month cycles. I want to learn to let others read books I adored when I am not reading them.
  • bring some visibility to the blog.

I hope you check it out if you are ever in the area! 😀
