Labyrinths

I started with a topic in mind
Something on which I wanted to write
It was an idea because of what I had read
I wanted to make it bigger
I wanted it to make more sense.

I found works by scholars acknowledged in time
The only way I could make them mine
Was to add in examples
Because otherwise my understanding is incomplete
What new am I bringing to this world
If all I write is a repeat?

I find and explore rabbit holes this way
Many I bookmark to return to again
Others are doors I create shortcuts to
Send a note to myself to not forget
An idea to visit and make more of
Some other day.

Come to think of it now…
They are not really rabbit holes
They don’t cause mental stress
They more like the thoughts spiralling away in my head.

Wanting to quiet them down is hard to do
But by collecting all this knowledge
I do my best to let my thoughts know
They are not going anywhere out of my mind
I will make them into reality
When the time is right.

Till then I will store them away
The labyrinths I must follow
Entries and exits to those worlds
Are always open, always accessible,
Never far away,
I can go catch a train
Discover a new station
And stay there, discovering, digging deeper,
For long as I may.
