Hello friends! The first quarter of 2021 is already coming to an end. Ariel and I thought we would do a different kind of post today – share the recent additions to our home libraries. We are planning to bring you our library book haul too in the near future.
Kriti’s Additions
The Read
As someone who loves physical books, in recent years, I have started buying books for which I had eARCs. Once in a while, I find a really good book at the library too and end up getting it for my collection. You’ll see this trend in a few of my purchases.
- The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles | Historical Fiction
Goodreads | Storygraph | Review
I originally received an eARC for this book and I loved it so much that I had to get a copy.
- Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez | Non-Fiction
Goodreads | Storygraph | Review
I read this one years back and had been waiting for the paperback to come out. One of my favorite non-fiction books, check out my review for my thoughts.
- Dark August by Katie Tallo | Contemporary Mystery
Goodreads | Storygraph | Review
This was my first book for the Canadian Book Enablers online book club. Set in Canada, I liked this book about a young girl’s search for the truth about her mother’s death. In my review, I go into the discussion with the author.
- The Councillor by E J Beaton | Fantasy
Goodreads | Storygraph | Review
Another eARC that I loved so much that I wanted a copy. This is the first book in a duology with a POV of a scholar in a fantasy world.
- Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron | Contemporary Romance
Goodreads | Storygraph | Review later this month
Another Canadian Book Enablers pick, I am loving this romcom. I don’t often read this genre but it is fun to try it sometimes.
The Coming Up
- The Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay | Fantasy
Goodreads | Storygraph
Famous Fantasy series by a Canadian author, this will be my first buddy read with Emilie. And it has ‘Fiona’ in the name!
- Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri | Fiction
Goodreads | Storygraph
I love Jhumpa Lahiri and her books always remind me of home (India). This one is about the immigration experience.
- The Last Ritual by S. A. Sidor | Horror Mystery
Goodreads | Storygraph
Set in the world of Arkham Horror Board games, this horror mystery has been on my ebook pile a while. I decided to get the book to prioritize it.
- Yellow Wife by Sadeqa Johnson | Historic Fiction
Goodreads | Storygraph
An upcoming buddy read with Charlie at Peaches book club.
The Audible Credits
- Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life By Jordan Peterson | Non-Fiction
Goodreads | Storygraph
This is the follow up to Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life. We always listen to his books during road trips.
- The City We Became by N. K. Jemisin | Urban Fantasy
Goodreads | Storygraph | Review
Ariel encouraged me to stick to this book as it’s a good one and I am glad I picked up the audiobook – so well done!
- Winter by Marissa Meyer | Science Fiction
Goodreads | Storygraph
This is the finale of the Lunar Chronicle series. I haven’t had a chance to discuss it on the blog yet.
I received a few more books as gifted copies from publishers and authors. I can’t believe how much my home library has grown in these three months. We are planning on moving to a new house soon and I hope I don’t fill it all with books!
Ariel’s 2021 Q1 Book Haul
- Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse | Post-apocalyptic
Goodreads | Storygraph
Having been gifted #1 of the series, I was excited to buy the second!
- Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley | YA Contemporary Mystery
Goodreads | Storygraph | Review
An eArc I loved so much I knew I had to pre-order!
- The Wormwood Trilogy by Tade Thompson | Sci-fi
Goodreads | Storygraph | Review
A trilogy that has been on my TBR forever… maybe buying it will encourage me to read through it sooner?
- Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese | Historical Fiction
Goodreads | Storygraph
A book I learned about through IndigAThon 2020 and have been wanting to read!
While most of my reads this quarter have been from the library, I’m hoping to add more to my library collection next quarter!
Did you do a book haul in first few months of 2021? Have you read any of them yet?
An impressive collection! …and Kriti, what’s wrong with filling your new house with books? 😉
Haha! There isn’t anything wrong with that. It’s just taken me 4 years to fill up this little place and if I am too fast in filling up the new one, I won’t be able to move into a bigger one anytime soon 😀 I already have a buy list for April!!
😀
