Welcome to the eighth Backlist Bingo 2024 Check in! Let’s see how much progress we made in August. Like always, let’s take a look at what other participants have been reading and which year of books we have been gravitating to as a community.
Ariel’s Backlist Bingo Update
Prompt: 3rd book in a series
Book Name: Moonstruck: volume 3 by Grace Ellis | Goodreads
Quick review: Not all backlist books can be winners, unfortunately. I’ve had the Moonstruck graphic novels on my TBR for quite a few years; as the art style, fantasy genre, and general LGBTQ+ themes seemed right up my alley. While I loved the world and the art style, the story and the relationship dynamics were a bit too toxic and unsatisfying throughout.
Prompt: Sci Fi
Book Name: The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson | Goodreads
Quick review: This has been on my radar through the B2Weird bookclub, and I’m very glad I went through it. Focusing on multiverse travel, it tackles serious topics like scientific advancement at the cost of harming those most marginalized. A good read but also one that I had to really pay attention to, I’m very much looking forward to reading the sequel that came out this year!
Kriti’s Backlist Bingo Update
Prompt: On the TBR more than 2 years
Book Name: Crossings by Alex Landragin | Goodreads
Quick review: A book that I added to my TBR in 2020!! I love the cover. I love the premise but the coolest thing about this book which got my attention back then was that this book can be read multiple ways. There is the sequential, one page after the other order that we normally follow but there is also a Baroness sequence that starts the story at another spot. I read sequentially this time and I am excited to put all my thoughts down. A work of literary fiction that would be great for book clubs!
