Welcome to the fourth Backlist Bingo 2024 Check in! We are enjoying working through our backlist and let’s see how much progress we made in April. Like last time, take a look at what other participants have been reading and which year of books we have been gravitating to as a community.
Ariel’s Backlist Bingo Update
Prompt: Poetry
Book Name: Remember by Joy Harjo | Goodreads
Quick review: A beautiful poem written by award winning poet, Joy Harjo. I have loved every poetry collection of hers and I knew I had to pick this up too!
Prompt: Added to the TBR Within a Year
Book Name: Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett | Goodreads
Quick review: A hyped-up light academia cozy fantasy that had been on my radar since its release last year, I was pleasantly entertained by the dry humor and wit of the characters in their academic pursuits of faeries. I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of the books in the series!
Prompt: An Award-Nominated Book
Book Name: Beloved by Toni Morrison | Goodreads
Quick review: Considered a classic, this book has been on my radar for awhile. It’s a tough but important read, and I’m very glad to have gotten to it in this challenge!
Kriti’s Backlist Bingo Update
I got bingo!! With the two prompts I read this month, I completed my first row!!
Prompt: A physical book
Book Name: Of Light and Nightmares: The Ashes of Magic Trilogy, Volume I by Alex B Harper | Goodreads
Quick review: This is the start of a new coming-of-age urban fantasy series. I have had mixed thoughts on this one but I flew through a 500+ pager in a day so it definitely had traction. Read a thorough review here.
Prompt: Third book in a series
Book Name: Time’s Orphan by Hayley Reese Chow | Goodreads
Quick review: Though the third book in a series, this is a standalone set in the Odriel’s Heirs universe about a young girl who has the power to heal. The audiobook is really well done!
